LCD Televisions

An LCD display is a display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid crystals. These can emit an image when light in exposed to them.

LCD screens emit generally less heat and use less power than CRT and Plasma screens. They are very popular and easier to find parts for if the television was to become faulty. LCD screens can also come in a larger selection of sizes when compared with CRT and plasma screens.

Early LCD screens had a bad picture quality due to ghosting when fast moving images were displayed, poor contrast ratio and muddy colours. These issues have since been resolved. Another problem with LCD screens is due to the backlight. The backlight can become faulty, and as a result, make it extremely difficult to view the screen.
